This card was published by Washington County Historical Society and printed by the Dexter Press, West Nyack, New York, numbered 37348-B. The photo credit reads "Ektachrome by Harold Eddleman." The caption reads:

"WASHINGTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, SALEM, INDIANA, was built in 1886 from native limestone which was quarried one mile southwest of town and cut on the city square. The clock faces are six feet in diameter. The weights operating the clock mechanism are boxes filled with several tons of crushed stone."

(The 1886 date disagrees with the Washington County History Page, which cites 1888 as the date of the courthouse construction.)

The card was purchased at the Stevens Museum on July 5, 1980.
